Composition and Installation of the Derrick

The mine signaling system, composed of sensors, controllers, and communication devices, is a monitoring system that enables real-time monitoring and control of data related to the underground mine environment and equipment operation.


1. Well derricks can be classified into steel derricks, reinforced concrete derricks, brick derricks, and wooden derricks, depending on the materials used in their construction.

2. The commonly used steel derrick structure generally consists of five main components: the head, the upright frame, the inclined frame, the wellhead support beam, and the foundation for the inclined frame.

Rig Installation Method

1. On-the-spot standing and rotating method

Level the site near the wellhead and assemble the derrick. Assemble the mast at the center of the wellhead, use a crane to lift the mast’s head, and then use a winch to erect the mast. Employing the large-rotation method, position the mast by utilizing the hinge connections between the mast and the base of the derrick. Next, lower the mast by tilting the derrick. Using the erection frame, lift the inclined mast via the sliding-lift method. Finally, remove the pulley system and the mast itself. This method is currently most suitable for situations where the wellhead site is level and spacious, and where the derrick is heavy and relatively tall.

2. Overall Sliding Installation Method for External Assembly at the Wellhead

Assemble the derrick outside the wellhead; use jacks to lift the derrick so that its base is higher than the wellhead; then, using the laid-out slide rails, employ a winch and hand chain hoist to slide the derrick into its designed position at the wellhead. This method is particularly suitable for sites with space constraints and where minimizing the time occupied by the wellhead is crucial.
