Product Overview

It features low resistance and excellent wear resistance, with a relatively simple structure that is easy to maintain, making it well suited for applications requiring compensation of dynamic rope deflection, mitigation of impact and vibration, and enhancement of system stability and safety.

 

Purpose

Traveling head sheaves are widely used in mine hoisting systems, particularly in multi-rope friction hoists and applications requiring container guidance within the shaft. They are commonly employed in vertical or inclined shafts, working in conjunction with cage cars, skip buckets, or bucket elevators. By automatically compensating for wire rope misalignment, traveling head sheaves significantly enhance system stability and safety in deep mines or long‑distance hoisting operations. Additionally, they are suitable for temporary construction scenarios that demand wire rope guidance in multiple directions, such as suspension systems during the shaft sinking phase.

 

Features

Power Transmission and Rotation: As the hoisting container moves up and down within the shaft, the wire rope contacts the groove of the traveling sheave, and friction drives the sheave to rotate. Because the sheave is mounted on a fixed shaft via rolling bearings, rotational friction is minimal, enabling efficient conversion of the wire rope’s linear motion into the sheave’s rotational motion while minimizing energy losses and wear associated with sliding friction.

Reduced operating resistance: The wheel assembly is typically mounted with rolling bearings, resulting in low rotational friction; meanwhile, the axial sliding design further minimizes additional resistance caused by lateral tension on the wire rope, ensuring smoother system operation.

Smooth operation: Because the wire rope consistently maintains centered alignment, slippage and abrasion are minimized, significantly enhancing the overall stability of the hoisting system and ensuring safe, smooth operation of the hoisting container within the shaft.
