Lifting Machine Misalignment Adjustment Mnemonics and Belt Adjustment Methods

The side of the belt that is loose is prone to deviation, so the tensioning device needs to be adjusted to ensure even tension on both sides. For example, if the belt is deviating to the right, you should tighten the right roller or loosen the left one.
I. Cheat Sheet for Adjusting Belt Misalignment in Elevators (4 Core Principles)
1. Don’t let the belt run loosely—run tight instead: A loose side of the belt is prone to deviation, so you’ll need to adjust the tensioning device to ensure even tension on both sides. For example, if the belt is drifting to the right, tighten the right-side roller or loosen the left-side one.
2. Run high, not low: The belt will shift toward the side of the idler rollers that is higher. Check the levelness of the idler rollers; use a spirit level to measure the deviation, which must be ≤2 mm/m (refer to GB/T 10595-2017 Conveyor Standards).
3. Don’t run at the front or the back: When the drive roller or redirecting roller is installed with an uneven alignment, the belt will deviate toward the side that makes initial contact first. Adjust the parallelism error of the roller axes to ≤1 mm/m.
4. Prioritize checking for uneven material distribution: If the material is piled unevenly (e.g., more material on the left side), the belt will shift toward the lighter-load side. In this case, you’ll need to adjust the position of the discharge chute or install a guide plate.
II. Practical Method for Belt Adjustment (Detailed Step-by-Step Instructions)
1. Preliminary inspection
● After shutdown, mark the position of belt misalignment and observe the wear marks on the belt.
● Check whether the idlers and rollers are deformed and whether the bearings are seized (the rotational resistance should be ≤5 N·m; refer to JB/T 7337-2010).
2. Tension Adjustment
● Use a dynamometer to measure belt tension, typically maintaining a elongation rate of 1.5% to 2% (for example, the standard tension for EP200 belts is 18 kN/m).
● Adjust the tension bolts on both sides simultaneously, rotating each bolt no more than 1/4 turn at a time to avoid over-tightening and potential breakage.
3. Roller and Drum Alignment
● Horizontal adjustment: Use a laser alignment instrument to calibrate the roller assembly, ensuring that the lateral tilt angle is ≤0.5°.
● Angle Correction: For V-shaped idlers, the middle roller should be 3% to 5% higher than the rollers on either side (for a belt width of 800 mm, the height difference is approximately 20 mm).
4. Emergency Handling
● For temporary misalignment, self-aligning idlers can be installed at intervals equal to 1/10 of the belt length (e.g., for a 50-meter belt, install a set every 5 meters).
● When severe belt misalignment occurs, the worn belt must be replaced. The overlap length at the joint should be at least 1.5 times the belt width (e.g., for a belt with a width of 1000 mm, the overlap length should be at least 1500 mm).
